The Chanel Boy Bag.

Karl Lagerfeld, who works for Chanel since 1982, never stops creating new and exciting pieces. He continues to redesign classic Chanel clothes and accessories but he always adds something new into them. He also created lots of original, already iconic accessories like Chanel Boy bags.
“Chanel used men’s underwear to make dresses; she had this boyish attitude, in fact it is the very spirit of Chanel. She got it from Boy Capel, the great love of her life, which, incidentally, explains why the new bag is called the Boy Chanel.” (Karl Lagerfeld)

If you read Coco Chanel's history sometimes it baffles you how the brand is so synonymous with femininity and elegance when Coco's life was all about breaking the norms. A daughter to extremely poor parents, coco took off at a very young age and her personality polished under two very wealthy men both of whom sadly couldn't give her the love she wanted or deserved. She was kept as a keep and not a wife. Through them she made wealthy contacts and eventually started her own business, and the rest as you may know is history. Today the classic flap by Chanel is arguably the most recognised bag of all time. Much before campaigns emerged for the Chanel Boy bag there was talk of a bag that broke the normal tradition of Chanel accessories and which believe it or not was deemed to 'fail'. Especially by sales people at Chanel Stores as I recall. However the Chanel Boy bag is now the IT bag since a couple of seasons. With numerous variations Chanel has finally let go... and given birth to a bold new statement. Elegant yet confident and ready to take on the world.

Prices start from the single colour small Chanel boy bag in calf skin at $2,300 and go upwards.
An image from the Chanel runway, the decked out Boy bags are exclusive and oh yes extremely expensive!

Amna and friend Shazia Deen of Neemar wear the biggest size of the Chanel Boy Bag.
Chanel's campaign is shot by Karl himself and features Alice, half english half brazilian. A musician and model.

After much contemplation, to me the perfect Chanel boy bag is the smallest size in velvet. Comes in black, purple, blue and green.

 Karl and Alice.
Jennifer Lopez carries the black and white small version while Mira carries the smallest size in blue velvet, my favourite!

Love this version too, the play of texture is highlighted due the solid colour.

Go one step ahead and accessorise your boy bag!
