Runway Review: FPW DAY 1

Fashion Pakistan Week has started with promises of great fashion, glamour and style in Karachi. The first day featured various designers.

Veteran designer Maheen Khan stuck to her style aesthetic which I love. It was simple but not at all subtle! The garments were oozing with confidence and poise. The accessories were light, airy as the clothes did not 'need' help from unnecessary theatrics.

Ayesha presented a collection where every look reminded us of Sania Maskatiya's earlier collections. There. You were thinking it and I said it. To see what I mean see SaniaMaskatiyaCollections.

Zari Faisal's debut collection was a light, fun and fresh offerings from the young designer. All I can see is some future promise, a lot to learn but she is in the right profession.

Deepak and Fahad's collection was good. A theme that ran through, well built garments and wearable separates. If they stock more wearable stuff they can go a long way as the Men's wear market in Pakistan still has a huge untaped share.

I was so glad to see Amir Baig's collection. It felt like he's the only one living in today's fashion world, tapping into the trends and making some at that! Summer is all about stripes and Amir took it one step further with his psychedelic designs. Silhouettes took a back seat with simple separates and dresses while the color wheel took charge.
